Have your say on improvements to Frome Showfield

HOW could the showfield be enhanced to encourage more people to use this wonderful open space near the heart of the town?

This is a question Frome Town Council and Vision for Frome are asking. They want to instigate a five-year plan to improve and enhance the area – and they want ideas from local people.

They say, “The showfield, owned by Frome Agricultural Society is a wonderful space enjoyed by many and with the completion of the health centre, the local health authority has promised funds for adult fitness equipment, but what else could help enhance the area? There is in excess of £35,000 to spend now and Frome Town Council and Vision for Frome want to hear what people think.

“To help gather your views Clare Hein and Neil Oliver will be out and about over the next three weeks asking residents and users of the showfield what they think. You too can have your say by logging onto Frome Town Council’s website at and answer four simple questions.

“Clare has already been busy talking to people on the showfield – a couple of the comments gathered are: ‘add a paddling pool! Toddlers love water’ and another ‘more trees for shade and picnics. More playground equipment for the younger ones.’

“You can meet Clare and Neil and tell them what you think. They will be hosting a drop in session at Frome Cricket Club on Thursday 4th October from 4.30pm to 6.00pm and a further session that evening from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. Frome Town Council and Vision for Frome are keen to hear your views, so come along and tell them.”
