Success for Frome’s women bowlers

FROME Parks Ladies were away against Paulton on 6th August for a wild league match taking the win by 54 shots to 49.

The best rink took a hot shot and were Viv Lake, Jayne Spencer and Olivia Grant.

To follow that success the Ladies had a local derby against Frome Selwood away on 8th August. In a close match Frome Park took the win by just 2 shots at 44-42. Best rinks were Barbara Robbins, Myra Drew and Val Church.

In the County League the ‘A’ team were home to Keynsham ‘A’ on Saturday 10th August. In a close match the result came down to the last wood, with the visitors taking the win by just 1 shot at 57-56. This breaks Frome’s unbeaten record but still leaves them top of the division. Best rinks were Wayne Pitts, Dave Whitehead, Colin Henning and Nigel Hunt at 23-17. Pete Wheeler, Paul Mitchard, John Curtis and John Pritchard at 17-16.

Frome Park hosted its annual triples competition on Sunday 11th August. With 30 players in 10 teams. The winning team for 2013 were Dave Whitehead, Val Church and Roy Miller with 8 points, runners up were John Curtis, Julie Hunt and John Vince with 6 points and the winners of the wooden spoon were Trevor Elms, Olivia Grant and Ted Lake.

In the Mixed MSL league Frome took a useful 3 point away to Wyrral Park on 9th August, Bust rink were Myra Drew, John Curtis, Mike Gulliford and Steve West with 19-14
