Frome acupuncturist encourages people to beat the winter blues

With the winter nights drawing in, the weather turning and the temperatures plummeting it’s not hard to see why many people feel a bit down at this time of year.

However, an ancient therapy continues to offer a lifeline to those whose winter blues lead to depression.

Recent research by York University has found that both Acupuncture and Counselling can offer valuable alternatives to medication when it comes to dealing with mild to moderate depression.

Frome-based Acupuncturist Martin John uses acupuncture, herbs and diet to treat mild to moderate depressive disorders and has found that a holistic, natural approach can offer real hope to those that struggle with this ‘all-too-common’ condition.

Martin said, “Depression is one of those problems that people generally don’t like to talk about, but it has far reaching consequences for those that are suffering, and for those around them.

“Apart from the calming effects of acupuncture, I also look to treat the root cause and will work alongside counsellors and GP’s where necessary, as a joint approach can be much more effective.”

So whether it’s helping lift a low mood or a boost for the immune system, acupuncture can offer valuable help in managing those winter challenges.
