Free Mindfulness Workshop at Frome Medical Practice

Each year the Mental Health Foundation campaigns for a week around a specific topic, this year the focus is on Mindfulness.

Mindfulness is an evidence-based, self-management technique that helps people monitor the way they think and feel about their experiences. As well as helping to improve general mental health and wellbeing, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) has been shown to help people cope with stress and pain, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) has been recommended by NICE as a treatment for recurrent depression.

To support the Mental Health Foundation’s Mental Health Awareness Week, Frome Medical Centre and Everyday Mindfulness are offering a free workshop on Mindfulness: Training for Mental Wellbeing, on Thursday 14th May, 4.00-6.00pm and Friday 15th May, 12.00 – 2.00pm, with Mindfulness teachers Eva Ruijgrok-Lupton and Dan Lupton from Everyday Mindfulness

Mindfulness can be seen as a form of mental fitness training: in the same way that physical exercise supports our physical health, mental training can help us look after our mental wellbeing.

This taster workshop will provide basic information about Mindfulness, debunk some of the popular myths around Mindfulness, and show you several simple Mindfulness exercises to enhance your mental wellbeing and functioning.
