Home in Frome book launch

THElaunch of the new Home in Frome book, ‘Fifty Frome Banners’ took place last week at Frome Museum.

The book contains images of each banner, together with photographs of the workshops and procession. Throughout the book, texts give information about the occupations and industries the banners were made to celebrate.

Gill Harry, secretary of Home in Frome said, “Fifty Frome Banners has its roots in the Home in Frome Working Memories project of 2010–2012. The banners were made in workshops over the summer of 2012 to commemorate Frome people’s working lives in the past and the old industries of Frome. They were taken, in procession, through the town streets in October 2012 to mark the launch of the Working Memories book.

“Many people in Frome gave enormous amounts of their time, care and skills to the production of these beautiful banners and we are very proud to present the collection to you in our latest book.”

The book is on sale at the museum, at Hunting Raven Books and from Home in Frome ref=hl
