Guide leaders raise money for international adventures

TWO Guide leaders from Frome raised over £1,000 at Brent Knoll Scarecrow Trail, after being selected to take girls on international trips as part of a regional scheme.

Emma Pearce and Su Foxwell joined other Guide leaders at the scarecrow trail in Brent Knoll last month to provide refreshments and begin their fundraising challenge.

Su said, “Our group raised £1,068, which was an amazing effort! Last weekend’s annual Brent Knoll Scarecrow trail, organised by Brent Knoll Guides, sprouted up some impressive creations – more than 70 scarecrows were created.”

Emma Pearce (3rd Frome Brownie leader) and Su Foxwell (4th Frome Guides leader) were chosen to help on the trips in 2016 or 2017, and must raise funds to enable their events to go ahead.

Emma will take a group of girls Interrailing in Europe, while Su will be jetting off to Canada. Both leaders have to plan and organise the trips within their teams.

“We will be looking to do more fundraising within the next year. If you are interested in becoming a leader within the Girlguiding movement please contact Penny on 07738 350537.”
