Work to start on £2million Frome Leisure Centre redevelopment

Fusion Lifestyle has announced that work will soon begin on the much-anticipated redevelopment of Frome Leisure Centre.

Bridgwater company Henry W Pollard & Sons Ltd will commence work at the centre this month.

Over £2million is being invested by Fusion Lifestyle in the project and when complete the centre will benefit from: • New state-of-the-art gym • New dedicated group exercise studio • New indoor cycling studio • New children’s soft play area • Improved entrance and reception areas, with improved accessibility • Refurbished changing areas.

Sarah Cruwys, general manager of Frome Leisure Centre said, “The work is expected to take approximately three months to complete and during this time, the majority of the centre will be closed to members and the public.

“However, some popular fitness classes will be continued in the college next door. Members will also be able to use other Mendip leisure facilities operated by Fusion.

“We appreciate that the closure will cause some disruption and inconvenience.  We apologise for that and thank members and users in advance for their patience.  It will be worth it, we promise.”

Hugh Dalton, business development manager for Henry W. Pollard commented, “We are delighted to have been selected to work alongside Fusion Lifestyle to redevelop the leisure centre at Frome.

“As a regional contractor, based in Somerset, we understand how construction projects such as these contribute to the local economy.  We have a well-established local supply chain who will be working with us to deliver these important community projects, ensuring that it is a win/win situation for the region”

Updates on the progress of the work will be on the centre website

In addition to the work at Frome, improvements are also being made by Fusion at Wells Leisure Centre where £550,000 is being invested; this work will also be carried out by Henry W Polland & Sons Ltd. Fusion is a registered charity that operates centres throughout the south of England
