European visitors to Frome

Edventure Frome recently hosted a delegation of social and community entrepreneurs as part of an EU funded programme to develop good practice across Europe.

The 22 delegates came from Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and Spain. During their stay participants on the programme met with members of the Town Council, Vision for Frome, former Edventure Apprentices, Edventure coaches and the Share Shop.

The meeting coincided with the Independent Market and, as Fredericke from Berlin put it, “Frome is amazing I want to live here, the people are so friendly and there is a real buzz.”

Each delegate stayed with a family in Frome, Sebastien from Brussels couldn’t believe the generosity of his host family, He said,  “They gave me a key to their house and I could come and go as I pleased, so trusting and such lovely people.”

Johannes Moeller from Edventure explained,  “There have been a series of gatherings in European cities, each designed to learn from each other’s experiences. We presented the work of Edventure and described in some detail our programme and its reliance on the support of the community.

“I’m so pleased Frome is up there with Madrid, Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin and Bilbao as an example of great work in this area.”

Edventure’s next project is setting up a food outlet using food that would otherwise be thrown away. For more information, or if you have any suggestions for a project that you think would benefit Frome contact, Edventure Frome, The Welshmill, Park Hill Drive, Frome visit
