Laughing with the Brontës

Bristol-based company Publick Transport will be bringing their production ‘We Are Brontë’ to the Merlin this Saturday, 24th October,

This piece of comic visual theatre is inspired by the real and imaginary worlds of Yorkshire’s famous literary siblings.

Played in the company’s irreverent style, physical theatre collides with stand-up, clowning and improvisation as two performers deconstruct not only gothic themes of love, madness, repression and revenge, but also themselves. Part play, part enquiry into the act of putting on a play, this promises to be no ordinary Brontë adaptation.

‘We Are Brontë’, which premiered for three performances at the Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter, in June 2015, is devised and performed by Angus Barr and Sarah Corbett and directed by Ed Rapley with dramaturgy by Susie Donkin and additional performance and movement direction by Brenda Waite.

We are Bronte is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, with additional support given by PACTS, Tobacco Factory Theatres and Bristol Ferment.

The show is at 7.45pm with tickets £12.50 and concessions £10.50. Recommended 12 years plus.
