THE final November film on offer at the Batcombe Film Society will be screened this Friday 20th November:

TIMBUKTU (dir. Aberrahmane Sissako) – 2014 / 110 mins/ 12A

A powerful tale set during the early days of the 2012 jihadist takeover of Northern Mali.

Kidane, a cattle herder, lives with his family in the dunes outside Timbuktu.  When his son loses a cow crossing the river a chain of events is set in motion which sees Kidane facing the fundamentalists’ interpretation of sharia law.

This Oscar-nominated film is beautifully shot, haunting and lyrical.                                                                                 (French/ Arabic/ Tribal languages with subtitles).

The Jubilee Hall, Batcombe is the venue with Doors open 7.15pm, Screening 7.45pm.
