Local musician hopes to crowdfund debut album

AFROMEsinger/songwriter has launched a crowdfunding effort to raise money for her debut album, which she hopes to release in April 2016.

Sara Vian, who writes her own folk/blues music and was labelled Raves from the Grave’s “fastest-selling local indie artist” earlier this year, is hoping to raise £3,000 to produce the new album.

Sara said, “I’m doing this because I released my debut EP on Record Store Day this year with Soaring Magpie Records, after hitting the target of a previous crowdfunder. The EP has been selling really well and earned me the title of ‘fastest-selling local indie artist’ at Raves from the Grave record store.

“I’m feeling pretty positive about things so far and am starting to make connections with promoters.

“I did an artistic development course in Bristol in July which has given me the confidence to have a go at making the album. I have a backlog of songs which I need to record and release, so I can start writing new ones again!”

Sara, who has lived in Frome for five years, will use the £3,000 to pay for recording and producing, musicians, pressing and release, and marketing.

She continued, “I’ve been really lucky to have the support of  Frome FM’s answer to John Peel, Patrick Moss, and the producer Will Angeloro, who ambitiously intends for the album to be ‘as big as any record we grew up with’!

“I hope word will get out about the campaign to philanthropists and people who genuinely like my style and vision.”

Anyone who donates £10 to Sara’s project will receive a signed copy of her album, and £15 will buy a signed vinyl copy of the album.
